Native crops of indigo, Sea Island Cotton, and Carolina Gold Rice have been planted on the property as well as a small vineyard of scuppernong grapes that will be used for making wine on the Island. The lighthouse itself is now a museum and gift shop that is fully open to the public and plans have been made to use the former oil and wick house buildings as a wine and gift shop.
